Stationary Bike Trainer
A stationary bike trainer is actually an assembly that you can buy to convert your outdoor/road
bike into a workout machine. These assemblies differ in a lot of ways from one another, but most of them are of the
same basic design...they just allow you to hook up your real road or mountain bike, and ride it indoors with the
kind of resistance that can keep you in shape!
So, if you love riding bikes, and hate it when the weather or your schedule doesn’t permit, why
not get a stationary bike trainer to keep you in tip-top bicycle riding shape?
As we all well know, there is not always the time and opportunity to ride outdoors. But at the
same time, if we miss days in our workout schedule, it can effect our bodies and what we are used to… you would be
surprised at how much a week of rain will hurt your bike riding stamina, especially if you don’t get right back on
it at the first opportunity.
However, with a stationary bike trainer, you can finally keep caught up with your bike workout,
even when you are not able to bike outdoors. Putting your real, high quality bicycle up onto these stationary bike
trainers is very easy, and you will also find that the resistance on most of them is set to an even, steady
strength that actually works your muscles without breaking your back.
There is no doubt that even five minutes on one of these is MUCH better than nothing, and who
has five or ten or even fifteen minutes in the morning to go bike riding? You could even use it while you are
heating up breakfast in the microwave, and before you know it, you will have a half hour of riding time logged in a
week where you would normally not have gotten to ride at all!
When shopping for stationary bike trainers or stationary bike stands, there is one main,
important thing to remember… and that is the fact that you want a pretty heavy-duty version of one of these if you
don’t want to break it. In all honesty, these things do need to be able to hold up, and buying a cheap one at the
expense of having it not as heavy duty may cost you in the long run.
Cost is going to be a consideration here, especially if you have already
decided to buy a trusted name brand such as Kurt
Kinetic, Bell
Motivator, or CycleOps, to
name just a few. You may save some dollars here and there by comparing prices, but most of the time, what you see
is what you get. It is a pretty straightforward item, which means that most places are going to ask about the same
price. Still, no harm can come from shopping around, especially with the ease of surfing around on the
internet.
Mostly, a stationary bike trainer is going to see you through those weeks when you don’t get to
ride outdoors....and as boring as it can be to have to stay inside, at least you can still ride your “real” bike if
you have a stationary bike trainer!
